The spirit of the Sartiglia has always embodied it, a passion rooted in her family and personal history. Franca Fenu was awarded the Camelia 2025, the prestigious recognition intended for women who with dedication contribute to preserving and passing on the tradition of the historic equestrian joust .

Daughter, sister and wife of presidents of the Carpenters' Guild , Franca has experienced the event since childhood, holding leading roles: Massaia Manna three times and Massaiedda five times. She did not hide her emotion when she received the visit of Gabriella Collu, prioress of the Order of the Camelia, accompanied by Patrizia Pala and Giorgia Mugheddu, Camelia in 2023 and 2024 respectively. Among the most vivid memories, the one linked to the freezing Sartiglia of 1986: she was a massaiedda and her hands were shaking so much that she could not sew the veil.

The most beautiful edition, however, is the 1990 one, "warm and colorful". The official proclamation is scheduled for Monday, at 8 pm at the Teatro Garau, as part of the review of Traditional Sardinian Choirs "Cantando a Carnevale" organized by the Coro Maurizio Carta .

Franca Fenu will receive a ceramic depicting a camellia created and donated by the artist Alessandra Raggio because "she has always - as stated in the motivation - devoted commitment and passion so that the legendary Oristano equestrian joust always lives up to its tradition and fame".
