A seemingly urgent message on your phone reports alleged irregularities with the TARI tax and urges you to call a number to avoid fines. This is the mechanism behind the new scam reported in Oristano, designed to exploit taxpayers' concerns and trick them into providing personal information or calling suspicious numbers.
The Municipality raised the alarm after several reports reached the Tax Office. The messages, sent via SMS or WhatsApp, mimic official communications and use formal language to appear credible. The key point is always the same: an invitation to quickly contact a number to "regularize" one's situation and avoid further consequences.
The Piazza Eleonora offices issued a firm denial: "We do not use telephone messages to report any irregularities related to the TARI." Official communications are made exclusively through institutional channels, not via chat or direct cell phone contact.
The advice to citizens is clear: do not respond, do not call back, and do not provide any information. If in doubt, it is always advisable to contact the municipal offices directly. A simple scam in structure, but effective precisely because it is based on urgency and fear: two levers that, once again, criminals are trying to exploit.
