He had been accused of being the author of a carpet raid carried out in Oristano four years ago: 28 cars damaged with slashed tires and lots of inconvenience for the owners. But this morning Paolo Mario Tanchis, a 63-year-old employee, was acquitted for not having committed the crime. Thus ordered the judge of the Tribunal Cristina Argiolas.

Last week the prosecutor, in the indictment, had asked for a 14-month sentence. The defense had asked for acquittal precisely for not having committed the crime . The fact dates back to April 15, 2019, when over 40 tires of 28 cars parked between Via Carmine, Cagliari, Carducci, Contini, Solferino and Sant'Antonio were ripped open.

The police, comparing the images of the cameras, the jacket, the shoes and the gait of the hooded person filmed while puncturing the tyres, concluded that it was the same as in one point seen with the face uncovered. The defender, on the other hand, had insisted on the fact that there is no evidence, only one person can be seen from the cameras but there is no element that confirms it is Tanchis. Hence the request for acquittal. The owner of a damaged car was a civil party with the lawyer Monica Masia.
