A huge marijuana plantation seized, with 155 kilos of substance already dried and ready for sale. Four arrests. A crazy and dangerous chase on the 131 .

This is the outcome of an operation by the Oristano Police, the result of an investigation that began when the agents identified, in the countryside of Siamaggiore, near the Massama prison, eight greenhouses in which over 9 thousand marijuana plants with THC had been planted above the legal limits, over 19%.

Once the plantation was identified, stakeouts began, thanks to which the police quickly managed to identify the people involved. Upon seeing the officers, the subjects tried to escape, starting a daring escape, with a large-engined car attempting to obstruct the police and protect the van loaded with drugs .

The van was reached along the 131 and the driver, now hunted, carried out very dangerous maneuvers at breakneck speed, trying to throw the officers off the road . He then abandoned the vehicle in the overtaking lane of the state road and fled on foot into the surrounding countryside . He also reported a false theft of the vehicle in an attempt to obtain an alibi.

All in vain, the two young people driving the vehicles were arrested, just as two other accomplices had ended up in handcuffs in the previous days. A 73-year-old resident of the Oristano area caught red-handed while trying to destroy the illegal cultivation with a tractor. And another man arrested in Goceano during a search: he also tried to escape, hitting the officers with kicks and punches and throwing himself into a cliff full of brambles , where he was caught and arrested at the end of the scuffle.

Between the 155 kilos of already dried marijuana and the approximately 9 thousand plants, approximately 3 tons were removed from the market which, if sold at retail, would have earned the association approximately 5 million .

In addition to the crimes of cultivation, production, trafficking and dealing of narcotic substances, aggravated by the large quantity, the crimes of resisting a public official and simulating a crime in complicity were charged. The investigation continues, we are also trying to understand who the recipient of the drug was: it cannot be ruled out that the marijuana could have been used as a bargaining chip for the purchase of other drugs.
