Here are six useful tips from the Carabinieri to prevent scams:

* Be wary of overly tempting offers – If the price seems too good to be true, there is probably something fishy about it.
* Verify the origin of requests - Before making payments or sharing personal information, verify the identity of the interlocutor.
* Avoid unsecured advance payments – Prefer secure payment methods, such as cash on delivery or platforms that offer buyer protection.
* Don’t trust strangers on the phone – Anyone who asks for money or personal information, claiming to be a family member in need, could be a scammer.
* Use trusted platforms for online shopping - Choose well-known sites with fraud protection systems.
* Report suspicions promptly - In case of doubts or suspicious incidents, contact the nearest Carabinieri station immediately.
