Omar Masia's funeral in Calangianus: the coffin escorted by firefighters
Thousands of people gathered around the family to pay their last respects to the 25-year-old who died in the tragic accident in Tempio Pausania.Grief and emotion in Calangianus for the funeral of Omar Masia , the 25-year-old who died during the night between Saturday and Sunday after a scary fall from a bridge in the car he was traveling in with four other friends, in the Tempio countryside.
The coffin arrived shortly before 3:00 PM in front of the church of Santa Giusta, where the ceremony was held. Thousands of people awaited it.
The Fire Department attended with a large delegation to stand with the boy's father, Massimiliano Masia, a firefighter who was among the team that responded to the accident scene . The fire department helicopter also accompanied the motorcade to the church in Calangianus.
The mass was celebrated by the bishop of Tempio, Roberto Fornaciari.
At the end of the ceremony, the coffin was escorted to the cemetery by firefighters. The priest addressed a message to the young people of Calangianus: "Do not let this pain fade away; turn it into something good."
