The file, therefore, will land before the investigating judge on the order of the judge of preliminary investigations . The story is that of a tourist from Como who in August 2019 entered the Emergency Department of John Paul II in Olbia for severe abdominal pain.
According to the disputes imposed by the investigating judge, a strangulated umbilical hernia was not correctly diagnosed and unsuitable drugs were administered to the patient. The intestinal obstruction was fatal for the patient . The suspects are defended by Cristina Cherchi, Giuseppe Bardini, Gian Mario Mosca and Erika Castellani. The victim's family filed a civil action and was assisted by Alessandro Borghi and Alberto Viganò.
The investigations highlight the dramatic working conditions for doctors in the Olbia emergency room and other Gallura hospitals: a few specialists who manage hundreds of accesses a day and face contextual "red codes" without the necessary tools . The investigations often concern presumed medical faults for events that took place above all in the July-August period, during the peak days of the tourist season.
