Thirteen sites and as many special events in a journey through the cultural heritage of the city that winds between past and present, told by two hundred students of all ages through an intergenerational comparison that involves students of all classes up to those of the University of three ages.

Among the over seventy municipalities of the island, Olbia participates in the fourth appointment, on 25 and 26 May, of the XXVIII edition of Open Monuments, a project for the promotion of Sardinia's cultural heritage, awarded the recognition prize by the Presidency of the Republic.

Departure from the archaeological museum passing through the Roman forum, the Punic walls and islet, the Roman aqueduct, crossing the Carreras Bezzas, with a stop at the Simpliciana Civic Library and the Basilica of San Paolo up to the Romanesque one of San Simplicio and its necropolis.

Two out-of-town visits, to the Sacred Well of Sa Testa and the Riu Mulinu nuraghe with an adjoining visit to the church of Our Lady of Cabu Abbas, by reservation. Interrupted in 2019 due to the pandemic, the event was presented this morning by the Councilor for Culture, Sabrina Serra, by the president of the Council Commission for Culture, Simonetta Padre, by the archaeological official of the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Sassari and Nuoro, Gabriella Gasperetti , and by the two archaeologists who took care of the contents of the program and the training of the student guides, Letizia Fraschini and Rubens D'Oriano. «Together with the monuments, we want to open the city and do it using the best energies, that of our young people: the city schools will be the absolute protagonists of the event, from the management of the sites to the reception of visitors», said Serra, underlining the value social aspect of the event that includes and aggregates.

«It is a dense edition that allows us to get to know the territory closely again and is of great support to the Superintendence, which is short of human resources», added Gasperetti.

Among the collateral events, a conference on 'Olbia public outpost of Carthage on the Tyrrhenian Sea' curated by Rubens D'Oriano, two photographic exhibitions, an excursion in the gulf with the Aquabus boat of the Insula Felix association and two concerts curated by the 'Mario Cervo Archive which opens its doors to the public.

On the occasion of Open Monuments, the visit to the Museum's exhibits will be guided in Sardinian and Gallura, with the intention of including the two languages among those spoken in the audio guides.
