Bad surprise for the volunteers of the "Gaia" Civil Protection association of Olbia: unknown thieves stole the association's operating vehicle, despite the fact that it was parked near the Municipality, where the local Police Headquarters is also present.

The association itself denounced it, in a note, which reads: «On the evening of Saturday 11 February 2023, around 19:20 some individuals entered the square of the municipality of Olbia in via Macerata (where the Local Police) and they stole one of our operating vehicles.

This is a 2010 Mitsubishi L200, white with association liveries, AIB trim, beacons and trailer hitch. The license plate of the vehicle is: EA243YC. It may have been stripped of its liveries and all its trim.'

«From our network of contacts and hauliers – continue the Gaia volunteers – we know that he has been sighted in passing in some internal roads of the Nuoro area. If you see him or have news, please inform the police directly".

«Furthermore - the volunteers say again - this theft comes at a time when the association is particularly suffering as last year following another theft (and for this reason the cars were shared) several thousands of euros of equipment, putting our association in serious difficulty».

«For the uninitiated - concludes the association - we are a voluntary association therefore all our activities (forest firefighting, floods, earthquake missions, etc.) we do it totally free of charge, for the sole pleasure of helping the community , with a spirit of self-denial and sacrifice. It is a owned vehicle, kept operational with many sacrifices on the part of our volunteers ».
