The charges that the Tempio Pausania prosecutor's office is bringing against three men, all Sardinians, under investigation for the death of the Argentine Miguel Angel Paez, who was massacred inside his apartment on Via Marche in Olbia in February last year and died in hospital after months of agony , are very serious.

The prosecutor Noemi Mancini has closed the investigation (there is also a decree for immediate trial) contesting the crime of voluntary homicide aggravated by cruelty and torture .

The charges are against Michael Brundu, Giuliano Petta, and Alex Russo . The picture painted by prosecutor Mancini, based on the Carabinieri investigation, is extremely serious. Paez was allegedly robbed on January 23, 2024, by Brundu, along with other unidentified individuals. Then, according to the documents, a raid took place on February 3, and the 70-year-old man, after a hail of bullets all over his body, was left dying in his home. Paez died in the hospital at the end of a nine-month ordeal.

But the investigation has now expanded to include new circumstances, and additional people may be under investigation. Paez, after being abandoned near death by his alleged attackers, was reportedly seen by other acquaintances inside his apartment on Via Marche. Despite his critical condition, no one reportedly called 911. Furthermore, a Rolex belonging to the Argentinean was reportedly stolen from the house.

The three people under investigation for voluntary manslaughter are being defended by lawyers Cristina Cherchi, Adriano Catte, and Maria Eleonora Bianco. Michael Brundu and Giuliano Petta are in prison, while criminal lawyer Cristina Cherchi has long since obtained house arrest for Alex Russo.
