From Wednesday November 30th the emergency medical service operating in the old hospital in viale Aldo Moro in Olbia, the San Giovanni Di Dio, will be transferred to the John Paul II hospital .

Restyling time for the surgery included in the wider restructuring works of the outpatient services present in the structure, beneficiary of a regional loan of 300 thousand euros for the redevelopment of the premises which, at the end of the modernization, will have to house the Territorial Operations Centre, control room of the district assistance which will have functions of linking with the services, with the emergency-urgency system and with the hospital system.

After the redevelopment, the San Giovanni di Dio will also host one of the nine Community Houses planned in Gallura to meet the health needs of the area, in particular those of the chronically ill, according to the Gallura local health authority.

"From this reorganization activity that cannot be postponed we will also try to seize an opportunity , that of starting a collaboration between the Emergency Medical Service and the Emergency Department to solve at least in part the critical issues of the emergency-urgency system in our area, due to the shortage of doctors and the long waiting times in the emergency room» underlined the Director General of the ASL Gallura, Marcello Acciaro . "The transfer of the Guardia Medica to the ground floor of the John Paul II hospital will bring the two services to be "neighbors", with the prospect of supporting each other in case of need in the management of non-serious patients".

"We will try to reduce the expectations of citizens who access the emergency service - concludes the general manager - by creating more dignified working conditions for health workers and giving greater dignity to users".
