Olbia, the centenary of the expulsion of the Germans from La Maddalena is at the polls
Giuseppe Marcellino, born in 1923, is the last veteran of the battle of '43
He celebrated his century last November and today he went to the polls to express his preference among the candidates in the regional elections.
Born in 1923, Giuseppe Marcellino is the last veteran of the Battle of La Maddalena on 13 September 1943: in one of the first acts of the Resistance, he fought to free the archipelago from German occupation in the days immediately following the signing of the armistice.
Originally from Oschiri, resident in Olbia and honorary citizen of La Maddalena for his military commitment, Giuseppe Marcellino voted in the polling station in via Frosinone in Olbia.
