The man who last week, in Olbia, set his neighbor on fire remains in prison. Davide Iannelli, 48, sprinkled Antonio Cozzolino with petrol and set the flames. Then he turned himself in to the police. This morning he appeared before the investigating judge of the court of Tempio Pausania in the presence of the prosecutor who accuses him of attempted murder: he availed himself of the right not to answer. For him the arrest was confirmed in relation to the danger of escape and reiteration of the crime. The defense, represented by the lawyer Cristina Cherchi, has raised some exceptions that will be evaluated in the coming days.

According to the reconstruction of the agents of the Olbia Commissariat, the two neighbors, who live in the same building in via Petta, would have crossed paths on Friday morning and would have argued in front of the building. Then Iannelli would extract a bottle filled with petrol from an envelope and empty it on his rival, lighting the fire with a lighter. Cozzolino, with his body on fire, was rescued with a fire extinguisher by the driver of a scheduled bus that was passing by at that moment, and finally transported to the Burning Center of the Aou in Sassari. His condition is very serious, he has second and third degree burns in 42% of his body, third degree burns to the face, neck, shoulders and arms, and he is now hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the Santissima Annunziata hospital. He will have to undergo surgery to remove the necrotized parts of skin.
