No smoking in the outdoor areas of bars, restaurants and hotels : this is the ban imposed by the new ordinance signed by the mayor of Olbia, Settimo Nizzi , to protect public health.

Issued this morning, ordinance number 34 imposes a ban on smoking, also extended to electronic cigarettes, both inside dehors and in outdoor spaces, even if without cover but set up with tables and chairs, in bars, restaurants, clubs and hotels .

Business owners are required to display no-smoking notices in a clearly visible position. «The outdoor spaces of bars, restaurants and hotels are particularly relevant for public health: here people who do not smoke, including children, are forced to breathe passive smoke , perhaps even while they are having dinner», comments Nizzi. And he concludes: "Moreover, the provision also benefits smokers who will move to smoke and will not have to breathe in other people's cigarettes".
