A big fire that broke out in Enas, Olbia, is also causing serious inconvenience to air traffic: three flights arriving at the Costa Smeralda airport were diverted due to poor visibility due to the smoke given off by the fire. The runways were not accessible and the airport was closed for over an hour.

The extinguishing operations were made more complicated by the mistral wind, which blows with particular intensity on Gallura.

Numerous teams on the ground are involved in dealing with the emergency, including firefighters, civil protection, volunteers and Forestas, with the support of two helicopters from the regional fire-fighting system and a Canadair.

To facilitate operations, the Sassari-Olbia junction for the ring road around the center of Gallura has also been closed.
