No release of balloons throughout the municipal area of Olbia.

It is the measure ordered by the mayor Settimo Nizzi with a special ordinance which refers not only to balloons but also to colored ribbons, Chinese lanterns and other similar devices, on the occasion of events, parties, anniversaries, public and private events, including sports.

«The harmful consequences of the fragments of abandoned balloons and colored ribbons are well known. We have long been committed to protecting the environment and the image and dignity of the city. Residues of plastic, rubber and other similar materials cause environmental damage and, if ingested, can also cause the death of animals, especially marine animals – explained the mayor -. We are certain that our fellow citizens will only be able to share and observe these prescriptions".
