The American citizen, apparently an actress, is at the center of two proceedings (Tempio Public Prosecutor's Office, Sassari Juvenile Court) that have led to the girl's removal and her placement in a protected facility . With an emergency order, the Italian judiciary has suspended parental rights, and the woman can leave the country, but not with her daughter, who remains in an undisclosed location "for her safety."

The judicial authorities have not disclosed anything about the ongoing investigation. They have only confirmed that the mother and daughter were staying at a B&B near Olbia when the police took action . To protect the minor, not even the slightest details about the investigation have been released. The woman is currently reportedly in Rome and in contact with U.S. Embassy staff.
