He had ordered the drugs online. And when the package arrived at the collection point, the recipient and the Guardia di Finanza were also present. The box contained five kilos of hashish, so a 35-year-old man, originally from Capoterra but living in Oristano, was arrested.

The 35-year-old had purchased the drugs online from one of the many online storefronts, where it's increasingly possible to order narcotics. The deal seemed to have gone through; the package had arrived at its destination, but it wasn't just the unemployed man who was waiting for it. Members of the Guardia di Finanza in Olbia had also been monitoring the suspicious package's journey for days, from the moment it was shipped until the courier placed it in the locker (the self-collecting locker) set up inside a supermarket. They then waited for the recipient to show up to collect it, and then the raid began.

The 35-year-old appeared in court for a summary hearing. Assisted by attorney Maria Giuseppa Scanu, he decided to reach a plea bargain, and prosecutor Sara Ghiani agreed to an 11-month sentence. Judge Federica Colantonio suspended the sentence with probation, allowing the unemployed 35-year-old (with no criminal record) to be released immediately.
