The thatched and tiled roof and part of the ladiri (mud and straw brick) walls collapsed, literally collapsing an old Campidano house in the historic center of Monserrato, on Via del Redentore.

Neighbors raised the alarm after hearing a loud bang, which they also thought might have been a gas cylinder explosion. A fire department inspection ruled out this: it was the structural collapse of an old house, the stability of which could have been compromised by the rains, especially in January and the following weeks.

A thorough inspection was also carried out by the local police, led by Captain Mauro Soru. No one was present at the time of the collapse.
