Guardian of medieval treasures, Olbia participates in the Romanesque Days, established by the Fondazione Sardegna Isola del Romanico to promote the monumental assets of the period scattered around the island.

The event will open next Sunday with guided tours of the Necropolis of San Simplicio and the Basilica of the same name, included among the seventy-five churches of the Sardinian Romanesque heritage. In the churchyard of the Basilica, where it was celebrated in 1207, at 11 a.m. a historical re-enactment of the marriage between the Giudicessa di Gallura Elena de' Lacon and Lamberto Visconti will take place. A medieval camp will be set up in front of the Archaeological Museum: among the exhibition of medicinal herbs, ceramics, weapons and armor, games, musical instruments, medieval dances, demonstration of some trades, simulation of medieval battles, workshops on dyeing herbs and themed shows.

Accompanying visitors on the historical journey through the beauty and culture of the Romanesque period are also students from the Lorenzo Mossa Scientific High School and their classmates from the De Andrè Art High School. "We are thrilled to present the Romanesque Day in Olbia, which represents an extraordinary opportunity to promote the culture of our city and to bring the younger generations closer to the historical wealth of the area, also through a truly evocative reenactment," said the Councilor for Culture, Sabrina Serra.
