For offshore wind farms, the state concession must always be subject to the environmental impact assessment. This is the position of Italia Nostra Sardegna on the ok to projects at sea that “can affect the ecosystem, fishing, tourism, transport”.

The association participated online in the three service conferences on sea projects proposed by the Sea Wind companies: Del Toro 1, Del Toro 2, and Nora Ventu 1 and 2.

He formally opposed the granting of the concessions . The four parks are made up of a total of 141 wind turbines around 270 meters high, for a total power of approximately 2,000 MW.

"The position of the mayors of the coastal municipalities most affected was also clear and decisive - reports Italia Nostra - in claiming greater certainty on the environmental impacts of the plants and in requesting a cumulative environmental impact assessment".

The association talks about a real wind race in Sardinia : “As many as 15 requests have been submitted for the installation of 809 blades around the island, for a total power of over 12,000 MW - he recalls -. If all these plants were authorized, also taking into account the wind and ground photovoltaic plants already built, as well as those further proposed, a maximum potential peak of over 20,000 MW would be reached. There is no planning on the use of the sea and an adequate study on environmental sustainability ”.

Several objections have also been raised on the explant and replanting of posidonia : “The plants proposed by Sea Wind and not only are designed to use a gas, sulfur hexafloride , which could be dispersed into the atmosphere. The EU Commission plans to ban this gas in the next few years ".
