New draining asphalt has been laid on the new State Road 131 between Monastir and Nuraminis, and a newly renovated 1.5-kilometer stretch between the hamlets of Nuraminis, Villagreca, and Serrenti has been opened. These are the highlights of the progress made in the €63 million upgrade project for the State Road 131, a stretch of just under 10 kilometers in the Nuraminis area. What's more, the Nuraminis overpass (at kilometer 27,500 of the 131) will undergo static testing by the end of November, in preparation for its reopening.
The Anas
The whole thing is contained in a statement from Anas, which summarizes the "continuation of the final phase of Anas' work to modernize the route of state road 131 "Carlo Felice." "Where, in the next few days, work will begin on laying draining asphalt in various sections between Monastir and Serrenti."
The works will result in temporary restrictions along the new route already open to traffic between Monastir and Nuraminis and, notes the mayor of Nuraminis, Stefano Anni, "the southern entrance to Nuraminis will be closed for approximately a week for those coming from the direction of Cagliari, meaning that access to Nuraminis will only be possible from the northern entrance: junction of the 131 for provincial road 33 towards Nuraminis-Samatzai."
The new work, scheduled between Tuesday, November 11th and Tuesday, November 18th, will involve the construction of draining asphalt which, according to the Anas press release, "marks the substantial completion of the new four-lane section between approximately kilometers 23 and 27."
The deviations
This will have repercussions on traffic on that stretch of the Carlo Felice. "Vehicle traffic," continues the ANAS statement, "will be diverted to a single carriageway to allow for work to be carried out on the traffic-free lane. However, from Tuesday, November 25th to Tuesday, December 2nd, the laying of the new draining asphalt will affect the opposite lane with the same restrictions. At the same time, without impacting traffic, between Tuesday, November 18th and Tuesday, November 25th, the paving of a section of the road between Villagreca and Serrenti, between kilometers 31 and 32.500, will be completed, allowing 1.5 km of new road towards Sassari to be opened to traffic by December." That's not all. "The static testing phases of the Nuraminis overpass, at kilometer 27,500, will be completed by the end of November, preparatory to its completion and subsequent reopening," adds Anas, noting that "the modernization work involves a 10-kilometer stretch for a total investment of approximately 65 million euros. It is expected to open to traffic by spring 2026."
