Five women and ten men. From today, Nuoro officially has the first barracelli (which will become 48 in total): this morning they took the oath in the representative room of the Municipality, in front of the mayor Andrea Soddu, during a ceremony also attended by the captain of the Company, Gerardo Lallo Manca, the commander of the local police Massimiliano Zurru, the vice mayor Fabrizio Beccu and the councilor for the Environment and Civil Protection Valeria Romagna.

The company, already equipped with its own headquarters and two vehicles, a Land Rover and a Fiat Punto, will have surveillance tasks in the municipal area and civil protection.

The mayor of Nuoro, Andrea Soddu defined it as «a historic moment. After decades of absence - he stated - the city of Nuoro once again has its barracella company, an important garrison for the safety and protection of our countryside. I extend special thanks to all those who contributed to achieving this important objective that we had set ourselves, starting with the councilor Valeria Romagna who followed the process for the establishment of the company from the beginning and the manager Massimiliano Zurru who immediately he understood its importance. I thank Captain Gerardo, Lallo and Manca because they threw their hearts over the obstacle, putting their heart and soul into the success of the project. Naturally, I also thank the volunteers who accepted the invitation to apply and provide a service for the community."

Great emotion on the part of Captain Manca, who explained that a 24-hour service dedicated to Mount Ortobene will be set up, without forgetting the oases that fall within the urban belt, such as Tanca Manna and the Sant'Onofrio park and all the sour.

«Teams made up of three agents – added Manca – will periodically monitor sensitive sites, including the countryside, the scene of frequent thefts especially at night».

The first patrol will be right on Ortobene and will be led by a woman. «Having achieved the objective of reconstituting the Barracella company is a credit to the administration», declared Commander Zurru. «During the selection of volunteers, the aspect that struck me most was the sense of community and belonging expressed by the candidates. I understood that a path of continuous collaboration can start from here that will bring more security and vigilance to the area."

Here are the company agents who were sworn in this morning: Marilina Bandinu, Cosimo Brotzu, Pietro Brotzu, Tiziana Manola Brotzu, Cecilia Carai, Marco Delogu, Antonella Ferrando, Stefano Gallus, Giuseppe Ladu, Francesco Antonio Mereu, Giuseppe Morittui, Pietro Paolo Pau, Davide Piga, Graziano Porcu, Bonaria Urgu.

All the barracelli are finishing training and will monitor the countryside armed during the night. The company will soon also be equipped with a fire-fighting vehicle
