Saiu and Buffoni accuse the majority of blocking the debatePer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
Scrapping yes, scrapping no? And if so, when? A political battle is heating up in Nuoro over the scrapping of local taxes. The SiAmo Nuoro council group is harshly attacking the majority led by Mayor Emiliano Fenu, accusing them of blocking discussion of a proposal deemed a priority for residents and businesses.
The accusations come from councilors Pierluigi Saiu and Bastianella Buffoni, who denounce what happened during the last group leaders' conference on Monday, where the scheduling of the motion on the so-called "scrapping" of local taxes was allegedly blocked. According to the two opposition members, this is a concrete measure that would allow taxpayers to settle their debts while saving on penalties and interest. "It is a serious matter that pretexts and misinterpretations of the regulation are being used to prevent discussion," the statement reads, which openly speaks of a desire to "avoid discussion on such an important issue."
Saiu and Buffoni also emphasize that similar measures have already been adopted in other Sardinian municipalities, such as Alghero and Sanluri, while in Nuoro "everything is at a standstill," despite a council resolution already in place that mandates the offices to draft the regulations. However, "after months, no progress has been made." The criticisms aren't limited to a single incident, but extend to the entire administrative process. The two councilors describe a majority that is "divided, fragile, and incapable of addressing the city's problems."
