Over 20 million euros. It is the amount of investments announced by the Sardinia Sea Port System Authority for maintenance in the four ports in the north of the island.

In recent days, contracts have been signed to finance the interventions until September 2027 for the ports of Olbia, Golfo Aranci, Santa Teresa and Porto Torres.

In detail, the allocation provides for approximately 5 million euros per framework agreement for interventions relating to buildings and technological systems, maritime works, green areas and street furniture and road works.

The formula of the framework agreement provides for timely intervention for extraordinary maintenance on quays (damage to structures or broken fenders caused by ship manoeuvres), asphalt damaged by intense traffic of heavy vehicles, sudden failures of electrical and technological systems present in the port and, last but not least, emergency intervention to restore the seabed in the event of the creation of piles of sand that could compromise mooring.

An allocation that adds to the investments already made. Among these are the dredging in the port of Olbia, which will soon be subjected to an Environmental Assessment procedure, and for which the Authority has increased the available budget to over 70 million euros; the redevelopment of the Porto Torres fish market and its transformation into a service center (over 2 million); the barricade for an investment of around 30 million; the electrification of the platforms of all ports (78 million).

«With the maintenance contracts recently signed, we are ready to promptly tackle all the interventions necessary to guarantee the maximum efficiency of our northern airports for the next four years - explains Massimo Deiana, president of the AdSP - We are consolidating the use of framework agreements, streamlined tools to satisfy all possible emergencies, especially in periods of maximum traffic peak, which complement the intense and widespread infrastructural planning currently underway for the relevant ports".
