Firefighting operations resumed at dawn on the large fire raging between the municipalities of Noragugume, Ottana, and Sedilo, between the Nuoro and Oristano provinces.

The flames continued to burn hectares of land during the night and the fire points were manned by ground teams as fire-fighting aircraft cannot operate at night for safety reasons.

According to an initial partial estimate, several hundred hectares have gone up in smoke since yesterday afternoon.

This morning, two light helicopters from the regional fleet, two Canadairs (one already on site), and about ten ground teams (about fifty men) from the Forestry Corps, Forestas, Civil Protection, and Fire Brigade are operational on site.

The fire isn't causing any particular concern right now, but several small fronts need to be extinguished before the hottest hours of the day arrive and before the northwest wind, which is already blowing, picks up.
