“No to the gully of the Fosso della Noce”. This is the slogan of a hundred demonstrators at the center of the protest, in the afternoon in Viale Trieste in Sassari , against the hydrogeological risk mitigation project planned by the Municipality. The Cappuccini district committee organized the mobilization.

"We will fight, if the city will support us", affirms its president Uccio Virdis, "for the intervention to be suspended". It is feared that the embankments of viale Trento and Trieste will not hold up and the intervention on the trees is frightening. "This is a green lung," underlines a resident, "that they want to ruin forever."

"The municipal administration intends to build a canal about a thousand meters long", declares the vice-president of the committee Nicola Ribichesu, "from Viale Umberto to the former nursery, which will mortgage the whole valley". It is not so much the work that is contested as the use of cement. «It is an old conception», underlines Bachisio Mameli, a resident of the area, «which will devastate the flora of the landscape».

Those present then move to the Sala Angioy of the Province to observe the slides with the project elaborated by the technicians of the Municipality. There are many perplexities, also regarding the lack of involvement of the inhabitants of the neighborhood in a work that the mayor Nanni Campus considers essential, above all in consideration of the dangerous consequences that could originate, in the valley, from an extreme meteorological phenomenon.

For this reason the Municipality, as announced in recent days, will proceed with the implementation of the project.
