Acquitted, because the facts were not proven, of the charge of attempted undue inducement to give or promise benefits. At the end of the hearing in the Cagliari Courthouse, the judges of the Second Criminal Section dismissed the charges brought by prosecutor Andrea Vacca against the mayor of Isili, Luca Pilia, who was put on trial following the complaint filed by his former deputy mayor, Valerio Doa.
At the center of the case was the multimillion-dollar project for a gigantic photovoltaic park proposed by the company Blu Solar Uno srl on the family land of lawyer Doa. According to his former deputy, while the company awaited the Region's approval, Mayor Pilia allegedly imposed the condition that, in order to obtain approval for the energy park, Doa would not have to challenge him in the upcoming elections, scheduled for October 10 and 11, 2021.
The mayor consistently denied these objections, reiterating in court his administration's absolute opposition to such initiatives and expressing his surprise at not having been informed by his deputy that the project affected his family's land. Following the clash with the mayor, the deputy resigned. This morning, the court acquitted Pilia on the grounds of lack of substance. He was represented by lawyer Rita Dedola, while Doa was represented by his colleague Giovanni Aste.
