Nine years after Cyclone Cleopatra, the Region of Sardinia remembers the 19 victims of the tragedy of 18 November 2013 .

The most affected area was Gallura with 13 dead, but victims and devastation were also recorded in the center and south of the island.

«We remember with emotion the day of 18 November 2013, when, due to the very heavy rains that fell in a few hours, landslides, flooding and flooding occurred in many areas of the island, causing the death of 19 people and extensive damage to economic activities . to the road system and, in particular, to agriculture, with thousands of displaced people and damages for hundreds of millions of euros», the words of the president of the Region Christian Solinas, with a particular thought for Olbia, who «with 9 dead and 8 thousand houses damaged it represented the epicenter of a disaster that still today makes you tremble».

Years later, the governor thanks once again «law enforcement, military, rescue professionals and many volunteers who did their utmost to help the communities involved, a further occasion in which the strength of the Sardinians allowed the seriously affected territories to get up again ».
