Newsstands in Sardinia will be able to sell food. This is foreseen by an amendment to the Link approved yesterday in the Regional Council.
In addition to newspapers, the owners of the outlets will be able to use "up to 40% of their surface for non-perishable food products", as is already the case in other regions of Italy. The president of Fenagi (National Federation of newsagents) of the province of Cagliari, Francesco Spanu, expressed his satisfaction with this decision: «This is a victory for newsagents and for Sardinian consumers. This is a practice that already exists in other Italian regions and has been consolidated for some time. This amendment represents an important step forward towards the adaptation of our sector to the modern needs of consumers and to the competitiveness of newsagents".
According to Spanu , the measure "will also strengthen their economic position, guaranteeing a more stable future for local businesses. The ability to sell non-perishable food products will allow for diversification of supply and to remain anchored to the fabric of our communities.
