The 29-year-old who abandoned her newborn baby on the street in Osilo yesterday morning after giving birth alone at home will have to appear before the Sassari investigating judge tomorrow. The woman is accused of attempted murder: hospitalized in gynecology, she is guarded by the police. His health conditions are good, but he is still in shock over what happened.

The little one is also fine: Francesco, this is the name given to him by the doctors, is being cared for in the neonatal intensive care unit of the Aou and now the Juvenile Court will have to decide on custody.

Tomorrow the woman should be discharged from the clinic and will have to appear before the investigating judge of the Court of Sassari for the hearing to validate the arrest. The lawyer Elisa Caggiari, who assists the 29-year-old with her colleague Pietro Fresu, spoke to her late yesterday evening. To establish the woman's psychological state and outline an adequate care path, the lawyers decided to intervene with a psychiatric assessment. «He is clearly in shock – say the lawyers –. It is not possible at the moment to understand whether and to what extent he is aware of what happened."

The woman gave birth yesterday around 5 in her room , in the house where she lives with her mother. She went out and abandoned the child under a car parked near her home, then returned to her room. The newborn's grandmother heard the baby's crying and saw him shaking under the car, thus deciding to call for help. A 118 ambulance arrived on site and transported the child to the Sassari hospital, then the police arrived who reconstructed the facts and identified the 29-year-old, who was accompanied to the hospital. Then he was arrested on charges of attempted murder.

Prosecutor Maria Paola Asara, in charge of the investigation, ordered the seizure of the woman's mobile phone, which will now be analyzed by the prosecutor's experts to understand whether she acted alone or with the collaboration of someone. The girl's family told the police that they never knew she was pregnant.
