Cagliari is preparing for New Year's Eve celebrations, which this year will once again see the return of the New Year's Eve celebrations spread across the city. In anticipation of the events and to ensure the safety of residents and visitors, the Municipality has introduced some precautionary measures affecting vertical mobility in the historic center.
From 7:00 PM on December 31st to 10:00 AM on January 1st, 2026, several city elevators will be temporarily suspended. This will affect the lifts at the former Unione Sarda (bottom), the former Unione Sarda (top, towards Piazzetta Mundula), Saint Remy, and Santa Chiara.
The decision was made as a precaution, to protect user safety, given the high influx of people expected in the areas affected by the 2026 New Year's Eve celebrations.
As in previous years, the administration encourages residents and tourists to plan their travels ahead, taking into account the temporary suspension of service and using alternative routes to reach Castello and other areas of the city center.
