They came back in small groups, some alone, to be able to recover their clothes, suitcases, the dearest objects they did not want to leave in the ghetto-house in via Riva Di Ponente where they lived for years after having occupied it at different times .
The migrants were forced to leave in a hurry the building set on fire by one of them , the other morning shortly after six, during a quarrel with another foreigner. They managed to enter the rooms under the strict surveillance of the police and carabinieri , while the firefighters were completing the reclamation and securing the areas attacked by the flames.
Meanwhile , the Region, which owns the building, has begun to seal the windows and doors to avoid new occupations . An intervention that will be completed only after the definitive recovery of the personal effects by the boys.
The conditions in which forty and often more migrants lived in the block in via Riva Di Ponente were unlivable.
Meanwhile, the prefecture is dealing with the accommodation of the boys. 15 of the 30 migrants who occupied the building destroyed in the fire were hosted in structures of the Municipality and in the CAS . Twelve of them, with valid residence permits, were hosted in structures belonging to the municipality, three other legal applicants for international protection were taken to extraordinary reception centers managed by the Prefecture.
The situation is different for the illegal immigrants: three were accompanied to the CPR to be repatriated to their country of origin while another 12 were given a release document to leave Italian territory within seven days.
