The Network of Natural Shopping Centers of Sardinia has welcomed the new resolution from the Regional Council confirming financial support for the Natural Shopping Centers , but is calling for more decisive action. With a total allocation of €1.5 million and a maximum ceiling of €50,000 per individual center , the Region reiterates its commitment to supporting the sector. However, according to the Network, current resources and criteria do not yet fully reflect the strategic value of the Natural Shopping Centers for territorial development and urban regeneration.
"We're not just asking for resources," the Network's spokespersons emphasize, "but for full recognition of the CCNs' role as social infrastructure for the local communities. We cannot be treated as marginal beneficiaries, but as strategic players in local development." According to the Network, every year the CCNs demonstrate planning, innovation, and networking skills, with a tangible impact on the local communities. However, consolidating and expanding these results requires appropriate tools and medium- to long-term investments.
"We welcome the continuation of the call for proposals, but it's not enough," they continue. " The €50,000 cap, unchanged for years, doesn't allow for true planning or the development of structural projects. We half agree: the support is positive, but it remains incomplete. Development cannot be achieved by underinvesting."
The Network therefore calls for a multi-year strategy, reliable and ongoing resources, and ongoing dialogue with local networks. "The future of local areas is built with continuity, not with uncertain or annual resources," the spokespeople conclude. "Natural Shopping Centers are not a mere expense, but a living network that supports communities, businesses, and urban quality. The path has been paved, but now is the time to take a further step: more consistency, more vision, more courage."
The Natural Shopping Centers throughout the island join the call: Villasor, Fertilia, Alghero Historic Center, Alghero Sant'Agostino, San Teodoro, Sarroch, Oristano, Simba Tortolì, Welcome Sant'Antioco, Iglesias, Gonnesa, Nuoro, Gadoni, Costa Rei, Sant'Anna Arresi, Cuglieri, Via del Mare Quartu Sant'Elena, Calasetta, Carbonia Produce, Consorzio Arcobaleno Carloforte, Santu Lussurgiu, Torre Grande Oristano, Portoscuso, Strada Facendo, Corso Vittorio Emanuele Cagliari and the Consortium Cagliari Historic Center.
