A delicate rescue operation by firefighters in the Narbolia countryside concluded in the early hours of this morning, where a hunting dog had become trapped in a tunnel between large rocks.

The incident occurred during a hunting trip: the dog, named Kenya, was chasing a fox when she got stuck in some branches and rocks, her GPS collar trapped between two roots. Unable to free herself, the firefighters had to intervene.

The first team, arriving on site from the headquarters in Oristano, began operations to secure the area, removing branches and rocks and digging up the earth to reach the animal.

After several hours of work, a second team intervened to provide support and, using specific equipment, widened the gap, preventing mud and debris from falling on the dog.

As darkness fell, operations continued thanks to the installation of a floodlight column, allowing for improved visibility. A third team, deployed to relieve their colleagues, finally reached Kenya after several more hours of intervention.

The dog, visibly distressed but alive, was extracted and immediately entrusted to the care of veterinary staff.
