The investigation into the death of Giovanni Marchionni, the twenty-year-old man found dead yesterday aboard a yacht docked at Marina di Portisco, Olbia, is focusing on the legality of his employment status. Initial investigations suggest he was killed by fumes leaking from a chemical toilet or the hull's batteries.

Investigators may meet as early as today with the family of the man from Bacoli, a municipality near Naples, who have arrived in Sardinia and have appointed their lawyers, Maurizio Capozzo and Gabriele Satta. In the next few hours, the Tempio Pausania Prosecutor's Office will award the autopsy order, which is expected to be performed on Wednesday.

Giovanni Marchionni was a shipyard worker in Licola, in the province of Naples, and had boarded the yacht that had arrived in Gallura to spend a few weeks with the owner's family. Meanwhile, the mayor of Bacoli, Jose Gerardo Della Regione, declared a day of mourning in the town on the day of the funeral.
