“Claudio Dettori is guilty beyond any reasonable doubt and does not deserve the recognition of any generic extenuating circumstances. I ask for a life sentence ".
This is the request, this morning in the Court of Assizes in Sassari, of the prosecutor Giovanni Porcheddu at the end of the indictment of the trial for the death of Antonio Fara , killed on 22 April 2021 in his home in via Livorno 6 .
According to the prosecutor, the young man is guilty of the crimes of robbery and murder with the aggravating circumstance of cruelty and, to prove it, he retraced all the evidence against the accused, focusing in particular on those relating to video surveillance images and biological tests.
"Rehearsals queens", as Porcheddu defined them, because, in the first case, they portray the 25-year-old entering and leaving the house in Fara, which had hosted him for about two months , both from the entrance and from the back, at times compatible with the assassination and, on the morning of the 23rd, just before the carabinieri arrived.
"On the crime scene - continued the magistrate - there are only two genotypic profiles, the victim and the accused". Several blood and DNA traces were found, in particular on the hammer , believed by the magistrate to be the weapon most likely used to "break through Antonio's skull": "On his head the blood of Fara, on the handle the DNA of Dettori : this genetic test would be enough to nail him to his responsibilities ".
But even the imprint on the latex gloves, found both in the garbage pail and in an envelope next to the body , "alone is enough to hold him responsible". The prosecutor also focused on the fact that, in the house, a cleaning work was in progress and that the 47-year-old's body was wrapped in a blanket: "The intention was to get rid of it to make it disappear".
On the money found at the time of the arrest in the pockets of the accused: "36 five-euro bills, exactly the amount that was in the 'drawer' envelope, what was needed for the change at the bar, money taken from the victim". A set of evidence on the whole charged to Dettori: “ What do we have instead in his favor? Nothing - underlined the prosecutor, also isolating the alleged contradictions in the deposition of the young man - the probative desert ”.
