More fires in Sardinia: helicopters in the air. Dozens of hectares up in smoke.

Even in September, the fires in Sardinia continue.

On Sunday, the Forestry Corps reported 20 fires that broke out in the region , four of which required the intervention of the regional fleet's aircraft.

A helicopter went into action – in support of the ground teams of Forestry, Fire Brigade and Forestas personnel – in Fluminimaggiore (in the wooded area of Giogadroxiu) to put out a blaze that started when a car caught fire.

Water was also dropped from the sky in the countryside of Santu Masu in Tempio Pausania, where the flames spread across approximately 10 hectares of arable land and pasture.

Again, a helicopter operated in the countryside of Fonni, where the fire burned some wooded pastures.

Two helicopters also intervened to assist ground workers in Villasor, where the flames sent about 20 hectares of stubble up in smoke.
