Redevelopment in sight for the area between via Porto Botte and via Sironi , near the Caracalla metro station in Monserrato , in the territories of the municipalities of Cagliari and Monserrato.

The draft of the project was presented this morning in the offices of the metropolitan city in the presence of the metropolitan councilor delegated to the viability Antonello Floris, the councilor for mobility and traffic of the capital Alessio Mereu, the mayor of Monserrato Tomaso Locci and Franco Manca, Franca Cicotto and Efisio Sanna of the spontaneous committee of via Porto Botte.

On November 2, 2020, the committee had sent a complaint to the Metropolitan City asking for redevelopment to make the area safe. Manca, Ciccotto and Sanna were also received by Floris on Wednesday.

THE PROJECT - Entrusted to the metropolitan city last year by the municipal administrations of Cagliari and Monserratina, the project provides for the redevelopment of the area that has currently been in a state of neglect for many years: a functional parking will be created that will include the inclusion of cycle and pedestrian paths , green areas and public lighting, in a typical context of an urban square.

The draft of the project has now been submitted to the attention of the interested municipalities , who, if they wish, can make their observations and propose any changes. As far as the costs of the redevelopment are concerned, the total amount is equal to 750,000 euros , money allocated by the Metropolitan City with its own funds.

"This is a first, important step that will make it possible to put an end to the state of decay in which the area currently stands and will guarantee the safety of all the citizens who frequent it", comments Antonello Floris . Councilor Alessio Mereu , for his part, says that the intervention has two objectives: "Redevelop a degraded area and promote more avant-garde and safe mobility for citizens who use the surface metro every day when traveling between Cagliari and the metropolitan area ".

The mayor of Monserrato Tomaso Locci also expresses satisfaction: "A further step is added to the many redevelopment interventions already implemented by my administration in recent years. I thank the councilor Floris and the councilor Mereu for the important collaboration in the resolution of a an issue that will finally put an end to twenty years of deterioration ”.

Satisfaction also on the part of the spontaneous committee of via Porto Botte : "Finally we have been heard, after various appeals we have made to the Metropolitan City", declares Franco Manca.
