University of Sassari elections for new rector: Morandi leads the way

Morandi received 253 votes, Chessa 200, and Uzzau 185. These are the top three in the election to elect the new rector of the University of Sassari. Giorgio Pintore was far behind with 36 votes. The votes weren't enough to elect the Magnificent; it was necessary to reach 50 percent plus one of eligible voters.

Voting will now take place on the 23rd and, if the percentage described above is not achieved, a runoff will be held on September 28th.

Today's results were read by the chairman of the electoral commission, Professor of Agriculture Antonio Piga, this evening in the Aula Magna. The candidates are Sergio Uzzau, Giorgio Pintore, Francesco Morandi, and Omar Chessa, professors of the Departments of Biomedical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Biology, Tourism Law, and Constitutional Law, respectively.
