The firefighters of the Cagliari command were busy until the first light of dawn to extinguish the fires of vegetation in some areas of the city hinterland.

The main criticalities in the area of the Molentargius park , in Quartu Sant'Elena , and in the salt pans where around midnight the flames enveloped reeds and scrub up to via Fiume.

The fire also touched the inhabited center between via Lisbon, via Madrid and via San Benedetto, and there were numerous calls with requests for intervention to 115.

Four ordinary teams operated, two from the headquarters in Viale Marconi, one from the Cagliari port detachment and one from the Mandas detachment, as well as four other support teams, with an off-road Man 4x4 vehicle equipped with a fire-fighting module, two tank trucks and the kilolitric with 25,000 liters of water from the Elmas airport branch.

The firefighters lined up in several places, the priority was to protect the houses adjacent to the fire which, as a precaution, were evacuated .

There were also volunteer teams from the Regional Forestry, as well as some ambulances sent by 118 as a precaution.

The fire caused damage to some homes, but there are no people involved.

Also in the night another episode near the Civil Motorization and the state road 554 where a 115 team and a tank truck extinguished the flames and made the area safe by reclaiming it from residual outbreaks.

Finally, a fire in via Santa Maria Chiara in Pirri involved household goods and vegetation.

Investigations have been started for all the interventions carried out.
