Graziano Mesina on 8 February will appear before the investigating judge of Oristano, Serena Corrias, on the occasion of the first hearing relating to the request for release from seizure of assets blocked on 18 December, days in which the 79-year-old former fugitive was arrested in Desulo .
His lawyers, Beatrice Goddi and Maria Luisa Vernier, ask that the former red primrose of Sardinian banditry be returned the personal effects and 6 thousand euros in cash that he had in his wallet when he was captured.
The seizure of assets is part of the aiding and abetting procedure that led to the arrest of Antioco Gioi, a 56-year-old farmer, and of his wife Basilia Puddu, 46, owners of the house in via Nuoro where Mesina was in hiding. The couple then bargained in the trial by direct line: Gioi was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment, his wife to 1 year and 8 months, but with suspended sentence.
