Beatrice Goddi and Maria Luisa Vernier, lawyers of Graziano Mesina, are back to ask for house arrest for their client for health reasons.

The two lawyers announced an appeal to the Supreme Court against the sentence of the Surveillance Court of Sassari which rejected the request to have the former Supramonte bandit serve the sentence in his home in Orgosolo or in a structure more suitable for his health conditions than to the Milan Opera prison where he is currently being held.

According to the coroner in charge of the expert report by the Sassari judges, the conditions of Mesina, now 80 years old, are "compatible with detention in the Opera prison, an adequate structure to deal with any health problems".

Grazianeddu had been transferred to Milan in mid-July last year from the Badu 'e Carros prison in Nuoro, where he was imprisoned following his capture in December 2021 after a year and a half on the run. He had gone into hiding on 2 July 2020 shortly before the carabinieri knocked on his house in Orgosolo to notify him of the final sentence of the Cassation to 30 years in prison (later recalculated into 24) for criminal association aimed at drug trafficking.

In December 2021 he was tracked down by the Carabinieri del Ros and then arrested in a house of his friends in Desulo.
