MediterranEU : Alghero launches the VI edition of the project that trains young leaders of the Mediterranean. The presentation at Porta Terra with the mayor Raimondo Cacciotto, the councilor for Culture Raffaella Sanna and Stefano Cucca president of the Rumundu Association. Another adventure of the project aimed at young people promoted by the Rumundu Association, to train a new generation of leaders capable of developing social innovation and promoting sustainable growth models in the Mediterranean. A hub for young changemakers that offers high-level training courses and concrete support in the development of entrepreneurial and sustainable initiatives. The goal is to provide participants with the skills needed to transform innovative ideas into reality that can positively impact local communities.
"Our territory becomes a crossroads of ideas, skills and opportunities, helping to build a better future for our young people. An important value for the city: the positivity of young people must be encouraged, supported and valued", says the mayor of Alghero, Raimondo Cacciotto.
Two paths: national and international
The project is divided into two distinct paths.
National Path: aimed at 120 young Sardinians aged between 16 and 19. For three months, participants will analyze the local context, imagining new development models for the territory.
International Path: dedicated to 12 young people from conflict areas. This program aims to support the creation of initiatives capable of generating concrete impacts in the local realities of their countries of origin, promoting profound change from a social and economic point of view.
"MediterranEU represents an extraordinary opportunity for our young people, promoting their personal and professional growth. With this project they acquire planning and business creation skills that are very useful for their future", adds the Councilor for Culture, Innovation and Knowledge, Raffaella Sanna .
The soul of the MediterranEU project (supported by the Fondazione Terzo Pilastro Internazionale of Rome and the Municipality of Alghero) is Stefano Cucca : «I am happy and honored to confirm the commitment of the MediterranEU project, which in previous editions has trained hundreds of young Sardinians. Some of them have had the extraordinary opportunity to present their ideas in international contexts, such as California and Brussels. Our goal is to continue to promote social change and innovation, strengthening the link between the Mediterranean and the world».
The sixth edition of the project will focus on highly relevant topics: circular economy, environmental and social sustainability, technological innovation. The aim is to address the current challenges of the Mediterranean, contributing concretely to the achievement of the sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda.
