Mediterranean cyclone arriving from Africa to Sardinia: heavy rains and sirocco storm expected
A scenario of very intense phenomena is emerging between Friday and SaturdayVideo di Virginia Devoto
A core of cold air from the Balkans meets an active depression over Algeria. Result: between Friday and Saturday the formation of a Mediterranean cyclone is expected, which will bring heavy rains to Sardinia, up to cloudbursts, especially in the eastern sectors.
A development that is being carefully monitored by the Sardinian Civil Protection meteorologists in these hours: the issuing of an alert is almost certain. It still remains to be established what the "color" will be: the phenomena, strong in themselves, could also be long-lasting, up to two days.
On the national front, the cold north-east winds that have characterized the last few days will continue to blow persistently at least until Thursday, after which, in the central and southern regions, they will be replaced by the sirocco winds that rotate around the cyclone. For this reason, temperatures will tend to increase over at least half of Italy, both in maximum and minimum values. The climate will still remain rather cold in the north, where the winds will always blow from the north-eastern quadrants.
According to IlMeteo.it "over the weekend the cyclone will impact Italy. It will rain persistently in particular on Sardinia, Sicily, Calabria and then also in Campania, Abruzzo, Molise and Lazio. In addition to the rains that could also result in floods on the major islands, the winds will strengthen on the southern basins where storms from the Sirocco and Levante are expected with gusts of up to 100 km/h and consequent storm surges on the exposed coasts".
