Acquittal because the fact does not exist for Roberto Deriu , at the time president of the Province of Nuoro, and for the former councilors Franco Corosu and Paolo Porcu , due to the lack of a position of guarantee towards them. The same request was advanced by the public prosecutor Selene Desole also for the technicians Antonio Consolato Gaddeo, Pasquale Floris, Paolo Maras, Maria Lucia Fraghí, Gavino Canu and Renzo Ristori . A similar outcome was proposed for the managers of the Forestry Authority Carlo Masnata, Annamaria Pirisi, Paolo Botti and Gavino Diana , with acquittal because the fact does not exist.
These are some of the preliminary conclusions presented by the prosecutor in Nuoro, where 59 people are accused in the maxi-trial relating to the flood that in November 2013, with the passage of cyclone Cleopatra, caused death and destruction in much of Sardinia .
The defendants include administrators and managers of public bodies, as well as representatives of several local businesses. Among them, the former president of the Province of Nuoro Roberto Deriu, the then commander of the Forestry Corps Gavino Diana and the former director of the same body, Carlo Masnata. The charges, brought in various capacities, include manslaughter, manslaughter disaster and negligent injury, connected to three tragic events . The collapse of the road surface in which the policeman Luca Tanzi lost his life. The flooding of the Maccheronis dam in Torpè, which trapped the elderly Maria Frigiolini in her home, causing her death. The collapse of the bridge over the Sologo stream in Galtellì . These three lines of investigation — Oloè, Torpè and the Posada/Sologo stream — were later combined into a single judicial proceeding.
The discussion promises to be long and complex. So far, attention has focused on the strand relating to Oloè, where Luca Tanzi lost his life. The public prosecutor acknowledged the seriousness of the event but stressed: " There was no regional civil protection coordination system. Furthermore, the adoption of the provincial civil protection plan, without a regional plan and without a CFD system, could not have avoided what happened ." The hearing continues with the examination by deputy prosecutor Ireno Satta of the position of the other defendants
