Sardinia is the Italian region with the highest percentage of students not admitted to the final exam: 7.1%, compared to an Italian average of 3.5%. The data emerges from the Ministry of Education's surveys, published today on the eve of the first Italian test, scheduled for Wednesday 18 June, which will be followed the next day by the second, divided by school category.
In the ranking of those who failed, the Island is followed by Liguria (5%), then by Trentino (4.6%) and by Tuscany and Umbria, both with 4% of those who failed. Molise is the region with the least number of failures (2.6%), followed by Campania, Valle d'Aosta and Veneto at 2.9%. Sicily has 3.8% of those who failed, while Lazio and Emilia are at 3.2%. 3.6% of those who failed were registered in Piedmont, Puglia, Basilicata; 3.4% in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
There are 12,378 candidates on the Island, an increase compared to the 12,220 of the 2023-2024 school year. At the national level, there are 524,415 candidates, a slight decrease compared to 2024, when they were 526,317 (-0.4%). In particular, there are 511,349 internal candidates, a figure in line with 2024, when they were 512,530. While external candidates are 13,066 this year, compared to 13,787 in 2024, with a decrease, therefore, of 5.2%.
