On the day of his arrest, Matteo Messina Denaro was wearing a Franck Muller Geneve Color watch. A piece worth approximately 35,000 euros, which, according to what was revealed by Repubblica – which published extensive excerpts from the mafia boss's secret diaries and notes – was purchased in 2009 at the Forte Village in Santa Margherita di Pula.
"Who knows who he spent that vacation with?" the reporter wonders. The assumption - currently unconfirmed - is that Messina Denaro himself bought the jewel watch, during his time in hiding which, given what has emerged, was luxurious. Even if it could have been someone's gift.
