Capoterra is preparing to remember the victims of the floods that have marked the area's history, renewing its commitment to safety and looking to the future. On Sunday, a commemoration will be held at the Maddalena Municipal Park , dedicated to those who lost their lives in the tragedies that have struck the community over the years.
The anniversary particularly recalls the tragedy of the 2008 flood, a wound still vivid in the memories of the people of Capo d'Orlando. A day of reflection and solidarity with the families of the victims, established by the City Council and celebrated annually on the last Sunday of October.
But Sunday's program will not be solely dedicated to remembrance. Immediately following the commemoration, the Walk of the Heart will accompany the community in a moment of participation and sharing, with a message of hope and confidence in the future.
Two different moments, united by the same meaning: not forgetting the past and transforming memory into a concrete commitment to the present. Capoterra will gather at La Maddalena to pay tribute to the victims and reaffirm their commitment to continue building, together, a more aware and resilient community.
"Don't forget the past, but find in memory the strength to move forward," says Mayor Beniamino Garau. "This is the message accompanying the initiative, reflecting a community that doesn't want to erase the pain, but continues to move forward with confidence and determination."
