March 8th, a day that symbolizes women's rights, achievements, and dignity, became a decisive moment for a woman from Marghine to say no to violence: on International Women's Day, she had the courage to report her sixty-four-year-old husband, who had been arrested a few days ago on charges of domestic abuse against his wife.
On that very same day, the woman, tired of her husband's latest abuse, with the help of a friend, sought help and protection from the Macomer Police Station. They arrived on site and immediately took all necessary measures to ensure her safety and prevent further violent behavior or possible retaliation. The victim immediately reported that, over time, she had been routinely subjected to threats, insults, physical, verbal, and financial abuse, which forced her to endure miserable living conditions.
After the initial investigations by the police station staff were completed, the Nuoro Flying Squad, a unit specializing in crimes against persons, expanded their investigation. The investigations corroborated the victim's statements, thanks in part to several witnesses and the acquisition of medical records, as well as photographs, videos, and messages. For this reason, in recent days, the Nuoro Flying Squad officers executed the pre-trial detention order issued by the investigating judge at the request of the Oristano Prosecutor's Office. The man was taken to Massama prison.
